Free expert advice on time to pay arrangements and HM Revenue and Customs for business advisors and funders

5/2/2010

Informal presentations offered by LC Corporate Strategies

Business advisors seeking guidance on how to address the issue of tax arrears being chased by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) are being offered free expert advice by LC Corporate Strategies the turnaround and advisory arm of national top ten independent corporate rescue and recovery specialists Leonard Curtis.

The issue of addressing tax arrears has become of paramount importance to business owners and their advisors because HMRC is chasing payment of Crown debt in excess of £4bn accumulated by firms given extra time to pay taxes.

The 45-minute informal presentations are targeted at advisors and funders of businesses including factoring and invoice finance providers.

The sessions are free and staged at the offices of the firms signing up to them to ensure convenience.

Ric Miller of LC Corporate Strategies, and colleagues Rik Heap, Adrian Sullivan, James Hull and Daniel Booth, will address key issues including:

  • How HMRC departments work and who takes over when issues arise;
  • Options available to the departments and the powers they have to pursue companies with Crown debt;
  • LC Corporate Strategies experience of the crown's current stance when dealing with companies that have tax arrears including examples of what they will and won't support;
  • How you can help your client - what to watch out for;
  • How LC Corporate Strategies can help - why LC Corporate Strategies has successfully negotiated more than 600 time-to-pay arrangements over recent years;
  • Recent case studies of what has and hasn't worked and why.

Ric Miller said: "As tax arrears are now in excess of £4bn we're seeing HMRC harden its stance with time-to-pay arrangements being more difficult to secure for businesses.

"Consequently, securing the support of HMRC has become even more crucial in protecting the future of businesses under stress or distress."

According to the IMF, we are now at the start of the worst recession for 60 years.  However, rather that dwell on the doom and gloom, we will be considering the many positive steps struggling businesses can take in this challenging climate.

We are holding a number of (free of charge) breakfast seminars across the UK to give practical help on the tactics available to businesses to manage their way through uncertain times.
